MOSCOW, Aug 25 (PRIME) -- Russian tour operator Ted Travel discontinued its activities late on Thursday due to an outbreak of Coxsackie virus in Turkey, Dmitry Gorin, member of the supervisory board of the association for tourist rescue Turpomoshch, said on Friday.

“There is no Coxsackie virus epidemic in Turkey, there only 40 sick people out of 1.5 million population, or 0.03%, according to data of the Foreign Ministry. This could have affected activities of the tour operator among other reasons. This is the reason they mention. What happened in reality will become clear when the accepting side in Turkey speaks out and so on,” Gorin said.

He said that about 4,000 people suffered from the activities of Ted Travel, including 3,000 clients who had bought tours and about 800 people trapped in Turkey. Russia’s Association of Tour Operators told PRIME that part of them have to pay for their hotels.
